Rockies pitcher took jet from Miami to watch hometown team in Stanley Cup Final

Freeland stopped in Tampa Bay on his night off to support the Colorado Avalanche by attending Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final at Amalie Arena on Monday.

The Rockies' three-game series against the Marlins starts on Tuesday. Colorado Rockies pitcher Kyle Freeland took a detour on his way to play the Miami Marlins.

Freeland is at the game wearing a Cale Makar jersey, who he said is his favorite player live on a Denver local news channel.

"We had an off day in Miami, so the wife and myself decided to hop on a jet and come on over and watch the Avs.

"It makes me very proud to see this team and what they've done over the past handful of years," he said.

"To finally get to the opportunity they have in their hands, hopefully they can pull it off and bring the Cup home to Denver."
